Infection Control and Sterilization

At Today's Smile Dental Centre, we want you to feel safe and secure when having dental treatment. We do not want you to worry about the possibility of getting infected from dental treatment.

Disposable Instruments

Many of the commonly used items such as suction tips, cups, gloves, patient bibs and needles are disposable. We will try to use disposable items wherever possible.

Autoclave

Expansive instruments are sterilized using autoclaves. We use hospital grade (B class) autoclaves that is in full compliance with the European Standard for small steam sterilizers (EN 13060)
Instruments are sterilized using high temperature and vaccum to kill all the micro organisms.

Cold Sterilization

Those instruments which cannot be subjected to such high temperature at high pressure are subjected to cold sterilization.Instruments are immersed in this liquid for 30 minutes effectively sterilizes instruments.

Use of disinfectants

Commonly touched and used areas such as dental chair, table tops, and light handles are wiped clean with disinfectants after every patients.

Handpieces cleaning

Handpieces (drills that are used during fillings) are thoroughly cleaned using a special machine to purge it of lubricant and debris prior to autoclaving.

Ultrasound bath

Before sterilization, small intruments such as drills will pass through an ultrasound cleaning chamber to remove minute debris.
